This week’s work with Scylla focused on building a clear foundation in obedience. The session showed a willing, engaged dog making early progress as the exercises become more understandable.
- Scylla — October 10: Obedience work centered on place, sit, and fetch. Sit is coming along well, and she approaches the work with enthusiasm. We also got her started on the slat mill - more to come there. The session also demonstrated that clear, consistent communication from the handler will be key. I need to be able to communicate to her what I'm wanting from her because she wants to do the work. This is where I need to grow as a trainer.
Overall, this was a positive foundation-building session: Scylla is having fun, wants to learn, and is continuing to develop these behaviors with guidance.
